Turks and Caicos Airports Authority (TCIAA), which is governed
by Ordinance 11 of 2005, is a statutory body that was
established in 2006 following the split of the Civil Aviation
Department into the Civil Aviation Authority and Airports
Authority. TCIAA is mandated for ‘the constructing, controlling
and managing of airports; providing and maintaining runways,
taxiways and terminals for the efficient operation of airports;
providing facilities for Customs and immigration services, and
health and security checks; and for incidental and connected
purposes’.
TCIAA places emphasis on enhancing both airport services and
status of the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) as an international
and regional Tourist destination.
The Airport Authority Ordinance requires that the Board
comprises of a Chairman (Mr. Holton Williams), CEO (Mr. John T.
Smith) and six other board members.
The current management team adopts a very entrepreneurial
approach to developing TCIAA with a constant focus on continuous
improvement. With this objective in mind TCIAA adopts a
forward-looking philosophy in its expansion, to provide
passengers and other customers with much improved services,
supporting flights to more destinations, at greater frequency
and a with wider choice of carriers. TCIAA also strives to
continuously increase the variety and improve the quality of
services to give travelers a unique, pleasant and memorable
experience when visiting the Turks and Caicos Islands.
While applying a commercial mindset in managing the airports,
TCIAA remains committed to working to raising security standards
while minimizing delay and inconvenience to travelers.
