South Caicos Airport fire
PROVIDENCIALES, Turks & Caicos Islands – Sunday, March 8th, 2020 – The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) wishes to announce that the South Caicos Airport Terminal was destroyed by fire, however flights have not been suspended.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 8th it was reported that the terminal building was on fire. Police and the emergency personnel were notified, however the fire proved to be too much for the modest facility.
The TCIAA has advised it’s regulators, (Civil Aviation) that we will continue operations into South Caicos in order to serve the traveling public. Tower, runway and staff are all still able to function in this challenging situation.
The TCIAA remains committed to operating in a safe and secure environment and to be in compliance with all safety standards and procedures as set by the regulators.
