DOMESTIC ARRIVALS TERMINAL AT JAGS McCARTNEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REOPENING ON WEDNESDAY JUNE 21, 2023

June 20, 2023

GRAND TURK, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS, June 20th, 2023: The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (“TCIAA”) is pleased to inform the residents of the “Nation’s Capital” and the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands that the Domestic Arrivals Terminal at the JAGS McCartney International Airport (Grand Turk) will be reopening on Wednesday, June 21st, 2023. The opening of the Grand Turk International Terminal will follow within the next two weeks and be able to accept passengers from all destinations.

The TCIAA embarked on a phased approach to the roof repair of the Grand Turk Airport Roof with Phase One in completion. We anticipate Phase Two of the roof and terminal repairs to continue through the 2023-24 fiscal year. A phased approach to the roof restoration project was necessary to avoid a total disruption to services and to allow for the continued use of the current terminal facility.

Mr. Imran Hoza and consultant Project Manager, Ms. Kathy Walkin, are overseeing the planning, implementation, management, and satisfactory delivery of all capital projects, at the JAGS McCartney International Airport, and are elated to realize this milestone, as they continue to stride towards driving the successful completion of the many other projects proposed.

Projects on the horizon for the JAGS McCartney Airport include:

The airport’s rehabilitation of the perimeter fence, being carried out by Olympic Construction Ltd., has also commenced, and the pre-construction works are underway.

The procurement of the high-grade prefabricated Forte fence of reinforced steel, capable of withstanding a Category 5 hurricane, should be on the island within the following months and erected by December 2023.

The construction of the Grand Turk Firehall and Restoration of the Air Traffic Control Tower are currently foregoing the procurement process and should be retendered shortly.

These projects will be followed by a restoration of the Parking Lot, the erection of a JAGS McCartney Monument, and a redirecting of the traffic flow into and out of the Grand Turk Airport, among others.

The TCIAA is committed to the timely, effective, and efficient delivery of all its Projects, to enhance the travel experience for all, we sincerely thank the traveling public for their patience and cooperation.
